Pharmacy is the medical science that connects medicine science with biology, and it’s charged with the discovery, development, manufacture, disposal, safety, and distribution of drugs and medicines. The pharmacists are the ones responsible for dispensing and providing medications to the patients. It can be general stores or specialized pharmacies. As far as the structure of a pharmacy is concerned, it consists of two major parts.

They can help customers in filling up their prescriptions and handling transactions such as refills. Other than this, pharmacy technicians are also responsible for answering the phone and providing help to customers. They can perform lab tests on the customers, keep records of prescriptions, and invent drugs and capsules.

It is also one of the pharmacy jobs that pharmacy technicians can pursue. Such a job involves preparing prescriptions at home for patients who cannot afford to buy them from pharmacies. This pharmacy job entails learning the process of preparing medications such as drug preparation, ordering supplies from drug manufacturers, and managing pharmacy accounts.

A person who considers becoming a pharmacy tech should possess a high school diploma or GED. Experience in the field is preferred. Pharmacy techs must obtain at least a 2-year degree in a related area from an accredited pharmacy school or a vocational institute. Many pharmacists prefer hiring pharmacy technicians with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, chemistry, biology, and other academic subjects. Pharmacy majors who wish to leave their present employers should apply for a pharmacy technician job first.

In the United States, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians must undergo extensive training to prepare for the certification exams conducted after graduation. Pharmacy graduates and pharmacists can also take the NCEs or registered nurses’ examination to become certified. This exam is intended to determine if a person has the knowledge and skills to handle duties in various healthcare settings, particularly those that deal with managing medications. Pharmacy technicians are supposed to assist pharmacists in all kinds of activities related to dispensing medications.

Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians have a significant advantage if they have worked in the retail or wholesale outlets of pharmaceuticals. This means that they have experience dealing with prescription drugs. It is also essential that they know how pharmacies operate, pharmacy procedures, and policies. They must know the right way to fill medications, handle refills, maintain prescription records, and take withdrawals.

In Canada, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are usually employed in drug stores and retail pharmacies. Some pharmacists work at pharmacies that offer prescriptions at pharmacy outlets, while others work in hospitals and clinics. The latter does not necessarily mean that these individuals are permitted to work in drug stores and retail pharmacies. Those who plan to enter the pharmacy technician field must complete a course that would equip them with the basic knowledge of pharmaceuticals. Upon completing the course, pharmacy technicians can enroll in pharmacy technician training programs to provide them with more practical and theoretical experience about their job. Pharmacy techs can even opt to take a diploma course to learn the basics of pharmacy practice. However, if they lack the requisite experience, they may need to take an internship where they will be able to gain hands-on experience working with actual pharmacists.
